WHAT IS NON-LINEAR VIDEO EDITING?
Welcome to the wonderful world of non-linear editing! What does that mean? It means that, just as your PC is a vast improvement over your old typewriter, non-linear (PC based) editing is a vast improvement over linear (tape to tape) editing. We digitize your footage into our system and we can then move it around, change the order, delete and trim, add effects etc., just like a word processor.
VIDEO EDITING PREPARATION TIPS
To save you time and money in your video edit session here are
some helpful tips from Video Editing NJ.
Get to know your footage. Create a list briefly
identifying segments of footage you are considering using and reference numbers
(time code or counter numbers) to quickly find them again.
If you have a scanner, scan your images yourself before the
edit session.
If there are specific special effects that you want, let us
know in advance so we can think about the most effective way to create them.
Tell us in advance what video tape format
or file format you are
bringing. We offer Blu-Ray HD, BetaCamSP, miniDV, Super VHS and VHS but arrangements
can be made for other formats. You can also bring DVDs that playback on
a Set Top Player.
Think about what type of music, sound effects, stock video,
graphics, or animations you may
need. We have multiple libraries.
These are just some ideas to make your video edit go more quickly. Of course, we can take care of everything you need during the edit.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Let's assume you have prepared for your edit following our tips above and are ready to schedule a session. What can you expect? Well, you will be working at the home of Richard and Susan Kretchmer on a lovely wooded street right outside of Morristown proper. We have converted one of our rooms into an edit suite.
You will sit down with Richard and discuss the objectives for your video. He will then digitize your footage selections and photos into our edit system. Once everything is in the system, Richard will help you put your video together. You will have the advantage of his 25 + years as a video Director, which translates into a keen eye for editing.
If you are here through lunch, Susan will be happy to prepare a beautiful lunch at which we can all get better acquainted! When your project is completed we can output your final video onto video tape, Blu-ray, DVD, CD ROM and/or provide an Internet Streaming file. All in all, Richard and Susan will do everything possible to make your time with us enjoyable.
